Hi guys! A silhouette I never tire of is a looser fitting top and tight fitted bottoms especially when the bottoms have plenty of stretch to them so that I can eat to my heart’s desire ^_^ mmm food. This is what happens when I work while i’m hungry haha anyways I digress. Doesn’t this bold grid printed top make you think of a city’s grid infrastructure? I just have a thing for cleans lines so deem me a forever stripes and checkered print lover.
Summer is officially over y’all which means my favorite season is here! Time to pull out some thicker knits and rich hues to mix and match with your summer faves. I love this transitioning period because it allows you to be creative and work with what you already have in your closet. This past weekend I felt like going a little flirty, a little elegant while still grounding the look with a chunky heel to tone down the girly-ness.
You may have noticed that I have been donning the midi length quite frequently lately (unintentionally) and by nature these types of dresses or skirts tend to be on the dressier side. Because they generally also hit around the mid calf area, pairing the look with heels is usually the safer option. I went against everything, because I can. And I think it’s a lot more fun this way. If you feel good in it, wear it because in my opinion when it comes to personal style there are no rules. I styled this dress in a way that I could see myself roaming around the streets in or even on a school campus in.
Can we also mention how excited I am about Fall being right around the corner? This look would work perfectly as a transitional Summer to Fall look You guys know i’m also a huge fan of affordable fashion and accessible pieces so this has been a fun collaboration with JCPenney! I have been so incredibly grateful and appreciative of your love and support so what better way to wrap things up than with a giveaway? There are multiple ways to Enter in this widget below, good luck! xoxo, Christine
Hi everyone! These past few days have been a whirlwind. Everything happened so quickly from me flying out to New York City for fashion week to collaborating with Chictopia on a couple videos to flying back for a friend’s wedding within the span of 2 days. I’m also helping plan and wrap up the details for another friend’s upcoming bachelorette! Of course it doesn’t stop there as I am working on other videos and collaborations as well. My brain has been running a bajillion miles a second but I wouldn’t have it any other way Typing out this post is actually bringing me a lot of peace at the moment.
Luckily we were able to do a quick shoot of the first outfit I wore in New York. I actually carried my black faux leather backpack which carried my cameras, Madden Girl flats (a must!), and other essentials in turn explaining the absence of a clutch or small handbag. I found this dress last week and fell in love with its mix of patterns, cut outs, and how I didn’t have to worry about piecing together separates as I quickly packed for this trip. I feel like this dress makes more of a subtle statement in the faded print and it in a way symbolizes where I am at this point in my life. I definitely am at a crossroad of being a girl and a woman (cue the Britney song!) and I am just feeling all sorts of feels. Descriptive, I know. The shoes were needed to liven up the look and because i’ve worn them so many times I knew they wouldn’t be killer on my feet Wow, I was rather chatty today so we’ll sign off here! Stay tuned for more outfit posts!
Hi guys! I’ve been getting some questions about this Maybelline the Nudes palette and I was also curious to see if there was an upgrade in the eyeshadow quality. Upon first look I was attracted to the simplicity and size of the palette.
Seriously, here’s a size comparison with the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette! I love how small and sleek it is considering it also has 12 eyeshadows varying from neutral to warm to cool tones.
Let’s take a closer look:
I numbered the shades since they don’t each have a name. Personally I find it easiest to view this palette as 3 eyeshadow quads (for ex. 1, 2, 7, 8) joined together so that the eyes don’t get overwhelmed. There are 5 matte shadows which I really appreciate: 3, 5, 6, 8, and 12. Shade 2 is kind of like the satin cousin of shade 5.
Swatches below were done with no primer. On the eyes I would highly recommend wearing a primer first so the shades show up better and last longer.
The lighter shimmery shades 1, 9, and 11 lack pigmentation and staying power. They remind me of some of the lighter shades that I own in my other Maybelline quads in terms of quality. The rest of the shadows with the exception of the black shade are nice and smooth with decent pigmentation. Shade 1 had the potential to be unique and awesome because it has a pink pearlescent shimmer with blue and pink flecks in it but it’s just too lackluster. I love shades 5 and 6 because it has an ashy and cool enough of a tone to use on the brows! That is always a major plus for me.
I mostly pulled out the Naked 2 palette for comparison because the shades in the Maybelline the Nudes kind of reminded me of it. Are there any definite dupes? Nope, but i’ve swatched the ones that I thought looked the most similar beside each other below.
My overall thoughts: I have worn the Nudes palette for the past week now and I really do like it. I typically do wear an eye primer and so far the shadows have lasted and still looked great on my eyes after several hours of wear. I’m even taking this one with me for my cruise trip with my family and Matt this weekend (so excited!). The eyeshadow quality seems to have barely improved if at all in my opinion but I think the selection of shades was very well thought out. The overall value is worth it considering the price. The price of their eyeshadow quads varies from ~$5-7 and this the Nudes palette varies from ~$10-12. The Nudes is pretty much like a triple quad in one which could have valued at a ~$15-21 price point. If you snag a coupon or discount then it’s an even better deal. I think the shades are all really wearable and most are easy to work with. Also, because i’m a big fan of smokey eyes and matte shadows I like the looks I can create with this. If you are a bigger fan of buttery shimmery highlight shades then I would pass on this one.
Have you picked up this palette or eyed it? What are your thoughts?
Hi all I’m typing this up as I pack for my trip to LA tomorrow and I think this black playsuit is an ideal type of clothing item to travel with. It’s easy to dress up or down, you could pair a skirt over it for an additional look, and if you get something spilt on you it won’t be obvious haha ^^ I seriously love fuss free clothing. I also love golden hour; it’s freakin’ magical.
