Truth be told, you won’t too often find me donning a dark lip with a smokey eye but today we’re letting my inner vampiress come out to play. Hmm..something about that either sounds creepy or inappropriate but let’s just roll with it.
I’m excited to have the opportunity to team up with Sephora (umm..freakin’ awesome!) and try out some of Kat Von D’s newer products. I’ve always thought her eye shadows were great quality and that the overall aesthetic of her brand looked really edgy glam and rocker chic. You guys know that I love me some lippies so naturally I was intrigued by her Studded Kiss line. The packaging is definitely eye-catching.
I had the chance to try the shades Lullaby and Motorhead (pictured). This Fall I have totally been loving the deeper and vampy lip shades so Motorhead inspired me to do a Face of the Day. I’ve worn it as a sheer wash on the lips as well as with a barely there eye but today I felt like going bold.
Motorhead is described as a matte black cherry and doesn’t swatch quite as dark as it looks. Initially I didn’t expect as much of a reddish tone to come out of this guy but was pleasantly surprised. I can see why this one is a cult favorite. Keep in mind that for any matte lipstick it is always best to properly exfoliate and moisturize the lips beforehand as application can be a bit more tricky.
I was also able to try out her Monarch palette and I am yet again impressed with the eye shadow quality! This palette has the perfect shades for Fall and are really easy to work with so I of course had to incorporate it into the look as well.
Are you guys a fan of the vampy look? Or are you more likely to reserve it for something like Halloween? Either way never shy away from experimenting and trying something new. Makeup can be fun, expressive, or whatever you want it to be!
Having oily skin has its pros and cons. What about when paired with wearing makeup in the scorching heat? I know, I know..con to the max. Don’t fret guys, shine and sweat are completely normal. Even actors and actresses have to get blotted very frequently on set because they’re human too. We can, however, take certain steps to keep our look from melting off of our faces faster!
Sigma recently launched their Born to Be collection and the music video of Katy Perry’s ‘Dark Horse’ recently released so I thought let’s do an inspired look! I’ve been obsessed with this song for some time now.

While jamming out to the pop music that was playing as we waited in line at Atlanta’s new ferris wheel, Skyview Atlanta, I couldn’t help but feel a little giddy. The warmth from the sun balanced out the light chill in the air perfectly and i’m honestly excited for Spring to near.
The color palette of my outfit inspired the eye look and with the slight change in weather it was time to switch it up from my usual neutrals. I am wearing Betrayal and Smokeout from the Urban Decay Vice 2 palette.
The Pantone color of the year 2014 is Radiant Orchid and I can’t really explain why this excites me other than the fact that I am just simply in love with this color. To balance the vividness of the bag I decided to integrate subtle colors such as the pale mint green of my shirt and deep faded berry of my scarf.

Autumn has always been and still continues to be my favorite season. For the spring and summer I wore a lot of coral, namely on the cheeks and lips, and kept the eyes soft. Now as Autumn inches closer and closer it is time to start rocking the smokey eyes more often again. Every Fall plum and purple hues are always on trend.
I talked about the Smashbox Softbox Eye Palette in one of my recent haul videos and promised some swatches so here they are! I figured I would go ahead and do a review too.
I first came upon this palette at Sephora and of course they were sold out there. After swatching some of the shades from the display palette I couldn’t help but want to get my hands on one. I even checked an Ulta and they were sold out of the palettes as well. So about a week later I took the plunge and ordered one from the Smashbox website.
What appealed to me the most was the selection of shades. I have been loving soft neutral eyes for the summer and the shades in this palette looked perfect for bridal makeup!
I admit this palette was a splurge considering it is $48 and I may have fancied it a little too much at first. So what do I think of it now?
The packaging is very simple and basic. It came with a mini eye primer which didn’t hold up as long as the Urban Decay Primer Potion does for me.
