Winter Bloom

While jamming out to the pop music that was playing as we waited in line at Atlanta’s new ferris wheel, Skyview Atlanta, I couldn’t help but feel a little giddy. The warmth from the sun balanced out the light chill in the air perfectly and i’m honestly excited for Spring to near.

The color palette of my outfit inspired the eye look and with the slight change in weather it was time to switch it up from my usual neutrals. I am wearing Betrayal and Smokeout from the Urban Decay Vice 2 palette.

The Pantone color of the year 2014 is Radiant Orchid and I can’t really explain why this excites me other than the fact that I am just simply in love with this color. To balance the vividness of the bag I decided to integrate subtle colors such as the pale mint green of my shirt and deep faded berry of my scarf.

Outfit Challenge 1

Do you have clothing items and accessories in your wardrobe that go unworn? I sometimes pull these pieces out and challenge myself to incorporate them into an outfit. After all, something about those pieces compelled us to buy them in the first place right? My entire outfit in this post consists of items that haven’t been getting much love.

This necklace can look too loud or gaudy at times because the gold in it is quite bright. I decided to pair it with pale understated colors that needed something to warm it up and bring it to life. This way the necklace isn’t competing with anything, but rather bringing some balance to the outfit.

Maxi dresses used to not appeal to me much but they have really been growing on me, especially maxi skirts! The jersey material of this skirt gives it a more casual feel which I like.

I tucked the shirt into the skirt in the front and tied a knot in the back for a more flattering silhouette.

I am no fashionista by any means. If anything, I just appreciate the art of fashion and how expressive it is. Luckily now I can share with you all my experimental outfits in this blog! :)

Do you think this outfit works? Love it? Hate it? Let me know!
