Today felt like the day to start posting again. Maybe it’s the solar eclipse. Maybe the solar eclipse is the perfect analogy. Something came over me this past weekend like how the moon came over the sun. I’m alive and well – thank you to those for checking in. I took much needed time off for myself and I really appreciate you all for being patient <3
I heard this song while I drove home this evening and it was just right:
You with the sad eyes
Don’t be discouraged, oh I realize
It’s hard to take courage
In a world full of people
You can lose sight of it all
The darkness inside you
Can make you feel so small
Show me a smile then
Don’t be unhappy
Can’t remember when
I last saw you laughing
This world makes you crazy
And you’ve taken all you can bear
Just, call me up
‘Cause I will always be there
And I see your true colors
I see your true colors
And that’s why I love you
We live in a generation where we get so caught up in perfection and in how we present ourselves. It feels amazing to let loose every now and then and to embrace the imperfection. Even these images are imperfect – they were shot with an iPhone instead of the usual DSLR on a cloudy evening in the French Quarter of New Orleans and edited with Snapseed (I still freakin’ love this app). It feels good to be back, and not just back as in back to posting but to feel like myself again <3
Hey guys! I’m excited to tell you that i’ve been working in collaboration with JCPenney to spread the message of #JoyWorthGiving this holiday season! I will actually be hosting an event at their store in Northlake Mall, Atlanta this Sunday on December 18th at 2pm and would love it if you came out We will be sharing our gift giving tips and there will be some awesome surprises so don’t miss out!
JCPenney has really impressed me with the versatility of products that they carry so it makes a great one stop shop for your holiday shopping. On top of their incredible deals and savings, they have a Low Price Guarantee that if you find a lower current advertised price on an identical item that they carry and can bring proof of it to the store within 14 days, JCPenney will beat that price by 5%!
For example, this Nutri Ninja Blender is one i’ve been eyeing for some time and even though its original price is a bit steep, there is a huge price cut at JCPenney. I think this would make a great gift as a powerful blender is always needed in the kitchen. It’s perfect for those who are aiming to be more health conscious as well!
Did you know that you can now find Sephora inside JCPenney at jcpenny.com and in select stores!? I’ve been using this First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream to soothe my dry flaky cheeks and it has been amazing! It’s incredibly hydrating and it’s also safe on sensitive skin so it had to make it onto my gift guide list. They also have a sample set that would make a great gift!
This mini crockpot/slow cooker is adorable and perfect for hosting! You could even use it for fondue, dips, or melting chocolate to make chocolate covered treats. I personally intend to use it to make my steel cut oatmeal most of the time 😀 It’s so affordable that it would make an awesome white elephant gift and it’s great for those with a busy schedule!
What about stocking stuffers? I saw this saffiano bow leather wallet online and couldn’t resist getting it. It has a ton of folds for cards and its saffiano cross hatch texture makes it extra durable!
Last but not least, I saw these velvet plush blankets in store (after touching numerous ones unashamed..SO soft!) and knew that I wanted to grab some along with socks and gloves to give to those in need. These blankets were flying off the shelves!
These are just a few of my picks but there are so many more to choose from! How is your holiday shopping going?
Also check out this video I did on how I went about spreading #JoyWorthGiving. Don’t miss out on the Giveaway!
Hey guys! I’m often getting asked about my sunglasses and it’s a bummer when they no longer exist anywhere or I find them at a boutique and have no idea where you can grab one for yourself. Well today i’m excited to let you know that you can get your hands on this gorgeousH&Mrose gold pairand they’re only $10! They are even prettier in person and oh so reflective! I also figured i’d tidy myself up a little by dressing up this real slouchy and casual Forever 21 t-shirt dress and came up with quite a greige (grey + beige) combo.
Hey all! In case you didn’t catch my Summer Lookbook I did a fun collaboration with Dynamite styling some of their pieces so go check that out for more outfits! There is also an awesome Giveaway going on (more details down below)!
I’m loving the fun color of this coral blazer and it can be dressed up or down. This blazer has a longer length to it and comes in other shades that i’m seriously eyeing. It’s great if you like the “boyfriend” length but want the slimmer feminine fit; super flattering! I wore this to a casual coffee meeting and it felt chic without being stuffy. 😉
2. Upload your best style photo of you styling your favorite dress (can be any dress you love!) via Chictopia.com, the Chictopia iPhone app, or on Instagram (make sure to tag the photo with #DYNxChictopia, @dynamitestyle, and @chictopia).
3. When uploading on Chictopia.com, you must choose “Dynamite Style Contest” under the “Style” dropdown on the upload page.
It was challenging but I had so much fun picking my top 10 drugstore beauty products! There will always be something so satisfying about affordable and quality beauty steals ^^ Watch the video to see what made it to my list!
I’ve been feeling really thankful and I enjoy giving back when I can, even in small ways Enter to win this bag of goodies in the widget below! It includes a few of the top 10 I mentioned in the video and then some just to round it out. <3
Before we divulge into the thoughts that are swarming around in my head, congratulations to my Giveaway winners! It always excites me when my winners are in such shock that they could actually win. You never know what can happen until you take the chance and try. Hmm am I sounding like a broken record? Probably.
Which leads me to my predicament; ok maybe predicament sounds too negative or dramatic but I am at a bit of a crossroads. I felt the need to just simply write today. I’m sure many of you are familiar with Robert Frost’s poem by the post title. It’s a classic and still one of my ultimate favorites:
TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth; 5
Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same, 10
And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back. 15
I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. 20
This couldn’t describe how I feel more perfectly. Feelings of distraction have swept over me but it’s a good thing. Sometimes I get so caught up in crossing off all of my to do’s for the day that I rarely take the moment to just look at the bigger picture. When I went out to Cancun with Matt recently, there was a moment where we just sat out, listened to the crashing waves, and had a raw heart to heart talk. These talks usually involve how we intend to progress in our careers. Matt is very similar to me. He is creatively driven with a healthy dose of business sense. We are constantly trying to find ourselves, therefore the amount of patience and trust we have with each other is what has allowed us to maintain our relationship. He has a tendency to wear himself much thinner than I do though so this getaway was much needed for the two of us.
I reached out to him earlier today about my new “predicament”, the one that’s distracting me and making me feel flustered, yea, that one. As much as I want to seek out the answer from my close friends and loved ones, I know that I ultimately have to decide for myself. Sometimes putting the trust in yourself is scary but i’ve always believed that a bit of discomfort and stress is a good thing. It pushes you and makes you stronger. I already feel a little more at ease just writing and letting some of it out. I live in my head a lot and go about my daily grind but I seriously feel so lucky to have you guys as my friends and I do want to let you in. I’m grateful for the trust that you have put in me.
The discussion doesn’t have to end here; if you guys are going through something similar, i’d love to hear from you!
